Nels Liljedahl
NELS LILJEDAHL Graduated from University of Maine Orono in 1981 with degrees in Environmental Science, Forestry and Park and Recreation Management. He spent 7 years as a river guide, leading expeditions throughout North America on extended wilderness whitewater canoe trips. Nels also worked as a rafting guide part time for many years, mostly on the Kennebec River. For the past 15 years, Nels has served as the District Conservationist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service, operating out of Carroll and Belknap Counties, NH. During this time, he has been responsible for restoring over 17 miles of headwater streams in New Hampshire, adding woody material to improve water quality and provide better habitat for native brook trout and other wildlife. Although not an avid fisherman, Nels derives great satisfaction from this aspect of his job and hopes to increase the number of streams restored throughout his region.
