PHILIP LIGHT was born and raised in Bedford, Pennsylvania. After moving to the Pittsburgh region for school and work, he returned to Bedford where he resides to this day. Philip works in the illustration and design industry where he is an independent contractor and consultant. As a young child, he spent countless hours fishing and exploring the small freestone streams near his home. Philip soon discovered fly fishing, and has been an avid fly fisher for nearly thirty years. His fascination with fish is what led to his involvement in water and fish conservation. Over the last several years, Philip has been involved in conservation projects, including at an international level, with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Conservation International. More recently, he has been working to build relationships with state government agencies such as Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Department of Environmental Protection, Fish & Boat Commission, as well as conservation non-profits. Philip also maintains a blog where he catalogs wild brook trout streams in Pennsylvania and Maryland, as well as water quality information. His primary focus is informing and educating anglers, negotiating with stakeholders in government and the private sector, and the protection and enhancement of wild native brook trout habitats in Pennsylvania. Philip was the founding Chair for PA NFC, and served briefly as National Vice Chair - North, stepping down to pursue a master’s degree. He can be reached at Info@nativefishcoalition.org
