MAX HEIDELBERGER

As I started learning about our state’s fisheries, I was initially shocked at how many native fish remained, especially in a state as developed as Massachusetts. This was quickly followed by a realization that if I didn’t support this work, even the little that we have left would quickly be lost.

MAX HEIDELBERGER grew up along the Shenandoah River in Virginia. He moved to Massachusetts in the late 2010s. While Max first started fishing at a very young age, he purchased his first fly rod in the pandemic summer of 2020. Fly fishing quickly opened his eyes to the plight of native fish and the threats to the watersheds they live in. Max spends his weekends pursuing striped bass in coastal Massachusetts, or searching for wild native brook trout in small interior mountain streams. His interest in wild native fish is part of a broader interest in conservation, and a desire to preserve our wild native species and habitats. Max can be reached at Info@nativefishcoalition.org
