ROWELL GUEVARRA

ROWELL GUEVARRA developed a passion for rivers as a result of his involvement with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, a program that helps veterans through fly fishing. From the start, Rowell was heavily influenced by those who were passionate about fly fishing, as well as other Auburn University Fisheries Students that volunteer for the organization. Rowell saw the healing value of intact ecosystems and wild native fish, and how it had a positive effect on those dealing with trauma. He later became a Volunteer with The OARS Foundation which works with First Responders and current and former Service Members. In 2022, Rowell organized Alabama’s first chapter of The Mayfly Project, a national non-profit that uses fly fishing as a catalyst to mentor and support children in foster care. With NFC, Rowell looks to help protect, preserve, and restore the resource, wild native fish, that these organizations depend on. When not working, Rowell can be found fishing the Tallapoosa River for wild native redeye bass, or guiding others as part of East Alabama Fly Fishing.
