DYLAN THOMBS

DYLAN THOMBS is a public school science teacher and ski coach. He graduated from Bates College with a degree in Environmental Science and Teacher Education. His work as an educator has centered around developing placed-based educational opportunities for his classes in rural communities in order to promote environmental stewardship and conservation. Dylan learned to fly fish in central Maine when he was 12 years old, using a fiberglass rod and gray ghost streamer to catch “squaretails.'' He grew up fishing the small streams, ponds, and lakes of central and western Maine before exploring the numerous brook trout ponds of the North Maine Woods, and sea-run brook trout streams of Downeast Maine. Dylan’s interests include watershed and forestry conservation, place-based education, youth camp programing, rural community revitalization, Nordic skiing, bird hunting, and fishing small streams and ponds for wild native trout and other native fish species. He is currently working on his Master's in Educational Leadership and exploring the fishing and upland scene in Colorado. Dylan can be reached at Info@nativefishcoalition.org
