Paul Terry

PAUL TERRY grew up recreating in and around the glacier runoff waters of the great Pacific Northwest. He fondly remembers catching trout for breakfast at a time when the resource could support it, and the remote campsites alongside those streams. Paul moved to Alabama as a teenager in the late 1980's, leaving for a brief tour in the Navy, and returning in the 1990's. While in Alabama, he fished for wild native catfish and largemouth bass in rivers and lakes. It was on a trip to Blue Ridge, Georgia, in 2018 where Paul learned that there were wild native brook trout in the South. He grabbed a fly rod and fished for some of the southernmost wild native brook trout in the world, returning several times over the net couple of years. This led Paul to reach out to other local fly fishers who in turn introduced him to stream-resident wild native bass in his home state. Paul has a passion for wild native fish and the places they live. He shares his passion with children through membership in various organizations and looks to do the same with NFC.
