SAMANTHA "SAM" KNAPP
“The idea of wilderness needs no defense, it only needs defenders”
SAMANTHA “SAM” KNAPP hails from rural Northeast Ohio, where she developed a deep interest in the natural world. This inspired a lifelong commitment to conservation. Sam earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of Akron in 2019. Since then she has worked with multiple agencies in wildlife management, water quality monitoring, and environmental regulation. Her professional and personal passions center on freshwater ecosystems, with a focus on wild native fish and the habitats that sustain them. In her free time, Sam can often be found seining and snorkeling Ohio’s rivers, observing and learning from native fish in their natural environments. Sam can be reached at Info@NativeFishCoalition.org
