ME NFC Opposed Proposed NH Magalloway River Regulations

The Maine chapter of Native Fish Coalition sent in a letter of opposition to the proposal to reverse a standing artificial lures and flies restriction on the Magalloway River in NH, and allow bait so a small group of anglers can target "catfish" and other warmwater species.  With a well-documented and universally accepted incidental mortality rate in the 30% range, this is simply too risky for a critical corridor for large brook trout migrating between Lake Umbagog and the Dead Diamond and upper Magalloway Rivers. There are lots of warmwater fishing opportunities in the area where bait is legal to use, allowing such on the Magalloway is not necessasry or warranted.
