Alabama NFC Works to Protect Federally Endangered Watercress Darter

The Alabama chapter of NFC worked with Cawaco RC&D Council, Freshwater Land Trust, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and several land owners to post informational signs in regard to federally endangered watercress darter.

Watercress darters are found only in Jefferson County, Alabama. These fish depend on cool, clean spring water for its habitat.

As always, it all starts with information and education. We can’t expect people to protect what they don’t know is there, or don’t know needs protecting…
