Spring is finally coming to Maine after 5 months of snow in the north country… Winter weary anglers will soon be heading into the woods for some ice-out fishing for unique and rare outside of Maine pond-dwelling wild native brook trout.
To date, NFC and our partners, members, and volunteers have posted 520 informational signs on 374 State Heritage Fish waters. This represents an effort of unmatched proportion for a project of its kind, showing just how much people care about these waters.
Amazingly, we are down to just 66 unclaimed waters. Another 25 and 46 have been assigned or picked up respectively.
