Maine NFC Notes From Arctic Charr Working Group

Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW) recently created a series of working groups to help develop frameworks for managing the states various fish species. This included most gamefish as well as a general group for baitfish.

Members of the public were invited to participate and provide recommendations. The end product however is up to MDIFW. Maine NFC was grateful to be given a spot on the critically important Arctic charr working group along with ME Audubon, UMaine, USFW, and Libby Camps. Attending on behalf of NFC was National Vice Chair and ME board member Bob Mallard.

After the first meeting, a round-table where everyone had an opportunity to opine, NFC submitted their notes and requests. A draft was then provided along with a follow-up meeting to discuss the draft. At the follow-up meeting, members of the working group were allowed to submit further questions and concerns.
