JAMES KEITH WHALEN
JAMES KEITH WHALEN serves as the Forest Fish Biologist for the Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests in South Carolina. He has been a biologist with the Forest Service for more than 25 years, serving in South Carolina and Arkansas. Keith has worked to restore native fish and their habitat for brook trout, Bartram’s bass, blackside dace, longnose darter, candy darter, smallmouth bass, Tennessee dace, American eel, and many more species across the eastern United States. He also works with other aquatic species such as mussels, crayfish, and insects and provides educational programs to teach students about the importance of aquatic environments.. Keith works closely with other agencies and organizations in South Carolina such as South Carolina DNR, US Fish and Wildlife Service, The Nature Conservancy, American Rivers, Southeast Aquatic Resource Partnership, and South Carolina Aquatic Connectivity Team.
