The Arctic Charr of Floods Pond in Maine
Floods Pond in Maine is an outdoor laboratory where rare wild native Arctic charr can be studied in a natural setting. Undeveloped and closed to angling, swimming, and other forms of recreation, it is the one place where a population can be monitored without having to sort through direct human impacts.
NFC worked with University of Maine, Bangor Water District, and Rippled waters to create a short video showing the ongoing field study. With the help of Yeti, Rishing, and Simms, we also upgraded much of teh equipment to better protect these rare fish.
