New England Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Step Up for Maines State Heritage Fish
Early this summer the Maine chapter of NFC was contacted by New England Backcountry Hunters & Anglers in regard to posting some State Heritage Fish signs.
In just a matter of weeks, our friends at BHA were able to post 16 signs on 14 waters. True to their name, the folks at BHA headed deep into the backcountry to post some of the more difficult to access, and in some cases trailless, waters we had open.
The group focused on the Katahdin Iron Works/Jo-Mary Region. They logged a collective 100 hours plus, while driving close to 1,500 miles on their own time and dime to help protect Maine’s wild native pond-dwelling brook trout.
Special thanks to Rob Bryan, Chris Ehnes, Jess Martin, Rob Moore and family, John Simoneau,
