JACOB SMITH

Wherever we go into the mountains we find more than we seek
— John Muir

JACOB SMITH refers to himself as a “young conservationist,” with a passion for wild native brook trout.   His home waters are the mountain streams of Northeast Pennsylvania.  Jacob caught his first wild native brook trout from a small mountain stream close to his home.  Since then, he has worked to help restore, enhance, and protect the wild native brook trout of Pennsylvania.  Jacob is currently pursuing an Environmental Engineering degree from Wilkes University.  He hopes to use his degree to help protect, enhance, and conserve local coldwater streams.  Jacob is involved in youth outreach, and is an Eagle Scout.  He also fished with the U.S. Youth Fly Fishing team.  Jacob is currently the president of the Wilkes University Fly Fishing Club, where he teaches other students about native fish conservation.
