WILLIAM TAPSCOTT

WILLIAM TAPSCOTT is in his Junior year at Auburn University studying to go to dental school.  He grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, surrounded by wild native bass waters.  While he grew up fishing with conventional tackle for largemouth bass, William discovered fly fishing and never looked back.  After purchasing an entry level fly rod, he hit the small creeks that crisscross the local landscape where he developed an interest in, and passion for, the wild native rare bass and sunfish that call these waters home.  Eventually, William came across Matthew Lewis’ book, Fly Fishing for Redeye Bass, and decided to attempt the Redeye Slam the following summer.  In 2019, William completed the Redeye Slam and gained a following on Instagram where he told the stories of catching each of the rare redeye bass species.  He joined the Redeye Slam team shortly after to help raise awareness of these rare fish through social media.  William can be reached at Info@nativefishcoalition.org
