ALEX SHUKIS
ALEX SHUKIS was born in Boston and grew up on the South Shore. At a young age, he discovered he had a passion for the water, beach, and woods. Alex was introduced to fly fishing by a teacher in his junior year of high school. He went to Yellowstone National Park through a school-sponsored program where he cast his first fly. After graduating from Gettysburg College with a degree in Political Science, Alex returned to Massachusetts where he took up saltwater fly fishing. After catching his first striped bass on a fly, he realized that saltwater fly fishing was his calling. Alex enjoys tying flies almost as much as he enjoys fishing, but he is most at home standing in the surf casting flies to wild native blitzing stripers and false albacore. He learned about NFC through his job at the Patagonia Boston store. Alex is looking to combine his work with Patagonia and involvement in NFC to help conserve Massachusetts’s wild native fish and habitats. Alex can be reached at Info@nativefishcoalition.org
