TAYLOR LEBLANC

As our climate warms, South Carolina faces an uphill battle to preserve its wild native brook trout at what is the southern edge of their native range. Without a lot of help from a lot of people, and concessions in regard to how we do things, we could lose this iconic and important fish.

TAYLOR LEBLANC resides in Travelers Rest, at the base of South Carolina’s mountains. He grew up fishing for speckled trout and redfish in the marshes and bays of southern Louisiana’s coastline. The foothills of South Carolina provide an ideal location for pursuing wild native brook trout as well as rare native Bartram’s redeye bass. His interest in wild native fish grew as a result of wanting more out of fly fishing than stocked and often nonnative trout. In addition to trout fishing, Taylor enjoys fishing for striped bass, black bass, and muskellunge in the rivers and lakes near home. Taylor served as Vice President and board member for the Greenville South Carolina chapter of Trout Unlimited. He is a regular contributor of fishing articles to Travelers Rest Here, a local online publication. Taylor can be reached at Info@NativeFishCoalition.org
