NICK MILKOVICH

Wild native gar…

NICK MILKOVICH grew up in Northeastern Ohio. He developed an interest for the regions native fish diversity early in life as a result of fishing with his parents and grandparents. Nick explored the waters between the Great Lakes, Ohio River, and Appalachian Mountains, where he learned to appreciate native species that were often underappreciated by conservationists, and mistreated by sportsmen. He now uses a fishing rod to help understand what is where, and never loses his excitement for new species. Nick earned a B.S. in Geology from The University of Akron in Ohio, which has given him a new perspective in regard to our aquatic landscapes and what lives there. He has participated in water quality surveys and a brook trout redd count, and has maintained a personal blog and other social media showcasing our diverse native fish species. Nick is looking forward to educating others about our lesser-known and often misunderstood native fish. He also looks to push the needle more in favor of native species at the fisheries management level. Nick can be reached at Info@nativefishcoalition.org
