CORY HOFFMAN

CORY HOFFMAN was born and raised in Sharpsville, but now resides in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania, area. He has worked as a fisheries biologist for Normandeau Associates as since 2016. Growing up in northwestern Pennsylvania, Cory spent most of his free time fishing the Shenango River, Shenango Lake, Pymatuning Reservoir, and Lake Erie. While he always had a passion for fishing, it wasn’t until he met his undergraduate advisor, Dr. Andrew Turner at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, that he became interested in fish conservation. While working on his undergrad, Cory worked as a Park Ranger for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Shenango Lake through their Student Temporary Employment Program. He started his fisheries career with Midwest Biodiversity Institute in Columbus, Ohio, and was fortunate to be able to travel to fifteen states to see their fish communities firsthand. At Normandeau, Cory’s primary responsibilities are the conservation and restoration of diadromous fish throughout the U.S. and globe. Much of his research is concerned with the upstream and downstream movement of fish at hydroelectric dams. Cory can be reached at Info@nativefishcoalition.org
