TOM WIENSCH

The last word in ignorance is the man who says of an animal or plant ‘What good is it’? If the land mechanism as a whole is good, then every part is good, whether we understand it or not.
— Aldo Leopold

TOM WIENSCH was born and raised in southern Wisconsin. He moved to Rhinelander in the Wisconsin Northwoods in 1986, where he currently lives with his wife Cheryl. Tom received history and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Now retired, he practiced law for 12 years with a small firm, and then for 23 years as a civil attorney for a municipality. His love of fish and fishing began at age 6 when he caught a small northern pike which, at the time, seemed enormous. Tom has been fly fishing since 1986 for trout, panfish, bass, and other species, and also enjoys fishing with conventional tackle for muskies and walleyes. He also enjoys photography, camping, and fly tying. Tom has long been an advocate for wild native trout and looks to help facilitate a resurgence of coaster brook trout in the southern tributaries of Lake Superior.
