PAUL BURMEISTER
“While we can’t undo all that humankind has done, we should fix what we can...”
PAUL BURMEISTER lives in Bristol, Rhode Island, and has a second home in Chatham, on Cape Cod. He returned to fly fishing after a fifty-year hiatus while he pursued a career as a financial executive and consultant. While he remembers the first brook trout that rolled on his as a young teenager, he didn’t actually catch one until after he retired. That fish was a 19” wild native brook trout caught on Prince Edward Island in Canada. Since returning to fly fishing, Paul has fished in ten states and two Canadian provinces. He enjoys fishing for striped bass in Narragansett Bay and Cape Cod, as well the remaining brook trout in Rhode Island. Paul appreciates how important it is to preserve the habitats our wild native fish depend on. He looks to use his role with NFC to make sure that we preserve the native species in their remaining habitats while we can still do so. He is also a member of Rhode Island TU and the Vice President of Rhody Fly Rodders, the oldest salt-water fly fishing organization in the United States.
