Vermont's Daily Limit on Brook Trout in River and Streams: How High is Too High?
NFC has made Vermont’s highest-in-native-range daily limit on brook trout in rivers and streams a priority. We are concerned this can cause angler exploitation which in turns leads to stocking, low levels of genetic diversity, and dangerously low populations.
NFC has done extensive research in regard to daily limits on brook trout throughout the native range. And no matter how we cut the numbers, Vermont is way out of step with everyone else. Is Vermont environmentally different? Ethically different? Is everyone else wrong?
