Massachusetts Chair Bob Dalton joined MA Fish and Wildlife to survey a small stream in Franklin County recently. If you have never done this, you should, as it is a real eye-opener to see what lives in our waterways. Kudos to Bob for getting out and helping.

While wild native brook trout were the target, there are many other species of fish that inhabit Massachusetts coldwater streams. This includes several species of dace, a few species of chub, fallfish, slimy sculpin, swamp darter, white sucker, etc., some of which are “species of concern.”

Right to left: brook trout, blacknose dace, creek chub, white sucker. All native species.
