MA NFC helps MA Fish & Wildlife Survey Small Stream

Massachusetts NFC Board member Alex Shukis accompanied MA Division of Fisheries and Wildlife Biologist Adam Kautza while surveying some central MA streams. While many of the streams were too high to electrofish due to recent rains, they were able to survey one small urban stream where they found numerous young-of-the-year nonnative landlocked salmon and brown trout, as well as native blacknose dace and two brook trout. It is very likely that prior to stocking, the brook was home to a healthy wild native brook trout population.
