Maine NFC Posts First Redfin Pickerel Signs...

Friends of Merrymeeting Bay Executive Director Ed Friedman and Maine NFC Chair Larry Bastian.

After successfully getting state-endangered redfin pickerel added to the fishing laws book as a not-to-be-targeted species, the ME chapter of NFC and our partners at Friends of Merrymeeting Bay went to work developing an informational sign notifying anglers and others as to the possible presence of redfin pickerel and what is expected of them.

Members of NFC, ME NFC and FOMB braved the elements to get the first 3 signs posted at fishing access points within know redfin pickerel watersheds. The signs request that anyone who encounters a redfin pickerel contact FOMB to help us better understand the distribution of this rare-to-Maine little-known species.
