Brook Trout Clog Update...

We have been having trouble getting the our NFC logo brook trout clog to where we want it. As is often the case, we are pushing our schwag harder than most in order to offer best-in-class products.

The first issue is logo placement. Unfortunately, the logo moves depending on the size of the clog. This means it sometimes lands on a vent hole. We are also seeing vertical drift where some logos overlap the textured side bottom, likely also due to size variations.

We have tried everything, including targeting the most common size, 10, for ideal placement and letting things drift from there where as they get worse it affects slow-selling sizes most. Unfortunately, this seems insurmountable at this time and we are not comfortable going forward as is…

We are also having troubles getting the heel strap paint edge clean. This was part of the standard offering and we initially figured we could live with it. The manufacturer is unable to spray entire band, just the front.

Unable to address logo placement on the clog itself, we looked to the strap as an alternative. Since we are changing directions, we don’t feel that the overspray is something we want to deal with, especially due to the variations we are seeing from one clog to another.

We are testing another design that would keep the strap which is consistent across sizes unpainted, or white, move the logo to the band, and add “PROTECT.PRESERVE.RESTORE”.

One issue is whether to orient the logo in line with the text or turn it to be horizontal when worn as pictured below. Another issue is whether we should put the text/logo on both or just one strap. Our concern is whether we can get consistent placement, especially when one would be logo/text and the other text/logo.

We think we are close and will report back once the design/manufacturing issues are resolved. Many of us our looking forward to sporting some NFC logo brook trout clogs this season, so while we are frustrated with delays, we are excited to be moving forward…
