NH NFC Assists with E-Fishing in Beebe River Watershed...
The New Hampshire chapter of NFC recently assisted New Hampshire Fish and Game and others in e-fishing wild native brook trout streams in the headwaters of the Beebe River watershed. This is the 3rd year in a row that NH NFC has helped with regard to the project.
The event was coordinated by NHFG Fish Habitat Biologist Jared Lamy with help from NHFG seasonal staff and NFC.
The headwater streams of the Beebe River watershed had become fragmented due to poorly designed and undersized culverts and road crossings. Many of these were replaced as part of a large scale restoration project roughly a decade ago.
The goal of the e-fishing surveys is to monitor wild native brook trout genetic diversity, abundance, and age distribution over a period of years to assess the effectiveness of the habitat work.
