NFC Project Funding and Approval
Goal
NFC looks to spend member and donor money as they would spend it themselves, while maximizing the benefit to wild native fish. We also want to represent NFC in the most positive light possible, and avoid getting involved in projects that do not have clear and reasonable goals and objectives, formal timelines, and a high likelihood of success.
Background
Historically, NFC has funded most of the projects we have undertaken. Some chapters have obtained state and local grants which is a huge help. As NFC continues to grow and chapters mature and get more active, we are being asked to fund more and more expensive projects.
Policy
While NFC will continue to do everything we can to help fund projects, we will need more help from chapters in regard to state and local fund-raisers, donations and grants.
Regardless of how or where the money was raised, including by the chapter for use in the respective state, all project expenses must be approved by National NFC prior to making any commitments.
If locally obtained grant money is to be used to fund a project and the grant doe not specifically say what the funds are intended for, we will ask the grantee for approval if there are any doubts as to what their expectations are.
