3rd Party Project Funding

Goal

NFC looks to spend member and donor money as they would spend it themselves, while maximizing the benefit to wild native fish. We also want to represent NFC in the most positive light possible, and avoid getting involved in projects that do not have clear and reasonable goals and objectives, formal timelines, and a high likelihood of success.

Background

We have been asked by chapters to donate money to projects led up by agencies and other organizations where NFC was not involved in the direction or planning, and has no real influence in regard to such. Without being involved in the project, NFC is at risk of funding something that falls outside our mission, is done poorly or in the wrong place, or fails to achieve its stated goals.

Policy

Under no circumstances will NFC provide any monetary support for a project where we are not a formal and equal partner, and are not involved in scoping, direction, and implementation. There will be no exceptions granted.

Summary

NFC is not a grant-funding entity. We will provide funding for our own projects, and those where we are a formal and equal partner. This protects our financial position, as well as our reputation.
