Maine NFC Retracts Support for Bass Tournament Policy Changes

Maine NFC recently supported a proposal from Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to prohibit bass tournaments in the critically important native salmonid rich North Zone. In doing so, ME NFC broke ranks with most sporting groups and media in the state.

Unfortunately, as a result of pressure from the bass fishing community, MDIFW agreed to grandfather waters that had hosted tournaments in the recent past. This sends the wrong message, and the way it was done was contrary to the intent of Maine’s rule-making laws.
