Data loggers are an important part of stream assessment as they allow us to monitor stream variables over a period of time. These devices are anchored in streambed and record data at intervals determined by NFC. The data is periodically downloaded to a handheld device, usually smartphone, via Bluetooth and analyzed to determine trends and detect notable events. This specialty unit is used when we are looking to monitor both water temperature and potential intermittency at a given location. These are used where we are concerned that a section of stream may go dry at certain times.
