ALAN JAMES ROBISNSON, known as “The Map Guy” in fly fishing circles, is an accomplished artist.   He has a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking-Etchings, Wood engravings, and Sculpture from the University of Massachusetts.  Alan’s art, most of which is done in pencil and watercolor, is focused primarily on fish and wildlife.  His illustrations have appeared in numerous publications including Disney, Lyons Press, Fly Rod and Reel, Safari Press, Sporting Classics, National Wildlife, Gray's Sporting Journal, The Fisherman, Fly Fisherman, and Yankee Magazines.  Alan’s images were featured in 28 limited edition books honoring the natural world and its creatures.  These books included several piscatorial titles: Gamefishes; Saltwater Grand Slam; Trout—Brook, Brown & Rainbow; Trout & Bass; and Atlantic Salmon-Once and Future King, written by NFC’s National Chair, Ted Williams.  Alan’s book, Here is the Arctic Winter, from Disney’s Children’s Book Division, Hyperion Press, was published in four languages.  His clients include L.L. Bean, Orvis, BassPro Shops, Patagonia and other well-known retailers.  Alan is also a consummate fly fisherman.  Alan has searched for every major subspecies of trout and salmon in North America, spending his summers exploring the waters of Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and the fabled Catskill Region of New York - the birthplace of American fly fishing.  He has fly fished every continent except for Antarctica.  Alan can be reached at Info@NativeFishCoalition.org
