State of Maine Sportsman's Show
Maine NFC just finished three days at the State of Maine Sportsman’s Show in Augusta. Hosted by The Maine Sportsman and Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, this was NFC’s strongest so-called “hook-and-bullet” show to date, and second to only Common Ground Fair as a non fly fishing show.
We were able to raise over $1,000 for wild native fish, signed up some new members and volunteers, and did 4 presentations: ME State Heritage Fish, Atlantic Salmon, New England Arctic Charr, and Brook Trout (a new presentation based on the research done as part of my upcoming brook trout book.)
Our presentations were well attended with lots of support for what we are doing and some great questions from the audience. I did the two brook trout presentations and Maine Chair Emily Bastian presented on Arctic charr and Atlantic salmon.
Special thanks to Emily for coordinating everything, Larry Bastian for helping to set up; and Richard Joyce, Jeff Levesque, Brian Rhea, Bradley Erdman, Rich Yvon, and Jack Gibson for helping to man the booth.
