KENDON TOWNSELL

KENDON TOWNSELL was born in Decatur, Georgia. He grew up on the banks of the Yellow River where he fished for shellcracker, or redear sunfish, and bluegill with his father. Kendon has always been drawn to the woods and water where he could interact with wildlife. He attended Middle Georgia College where he earned an Associate Degree in Flight Management. But Kendon’s real passion is the outdoors, and he used this to advocate for mental health through fishing with Minority Outdoor Alliance. While working as an Assistant Store Manager at Dicks Sporting Goods in the Outdoor section, Kendon was introduced to Georgia Rivers, an organization working to protect Georgia’s rivers and and connect people to them. He joined the organization as their Fish Georgia Rivers Program Coordinator. Kendon got into kayak fishing through his advocacy which has helped him host trips with Georgia Rivers. He is certified with the American Canoe Association as a Level 2 River Kayaking Instructor. Kendon learned about NFC when he encountered our informational signs in Sweetwater Creek State Park. He looks to use his role with NFC to protect, preserve, and promote wild native fish. Kendon can be reached at Info@NativeFishCoalition.org
