PA NFC Chapter Hosts Station at the Susquehanna Valley Watershed Festival
The Susquehanna Valley Watershed Festival was held at Cara Park in Catawissa on Saturday, July 30th, 2022. The event was sponsored by the Columbia County Conservation District, Briar Creek Association for Watershed Solutions, Catawissa Creek Restoration Association, Fishing Creek Watershed Association, and Roaring Creek Valley Conservation Association who invited other conservation organizations to table with the goal of bringing the community together to learn about their local watersheds and get involved in their conservation.
The Pennsylvania Chapter of Native Fish Coalition had a table to inform attendees of the organization and its mission to protect, preserve, and restore Pennsylvania’s wild native fishes. The chapter made some great connections with other organizations and had many positive discussions with individuals who stopped by the table.
PA NFC Secretary Emily Shosh, hosted a macroinvertebrate identification station at the table to teach young people about water quality and the macroinvertebrates that inhabit Pennsylvania streams. Chair Andrew Mickey, Vice Chair Christopher Mickey, and board member John Kosar were also in attendance.
Special thanks to Columbia County Conservation District and the various watershed associations for hosting the event, and thank you to everyone who stopped by the PA NFC table. We look forward to attending next year.
