Trout Brook Gets More Temp Loggers

As part of MA NFCs ongoing project at Trout Brook, MA NFC board member Jeff Moore accompanied by his wife Jane, grandson Ziggy and the family dogs, deployed 4 more temp loggers in the critically important headwaters of Trout Brook.

One logger was installed in the uppermost headwaters to establish a baseline temperature while also detecting any periods of intermittency.

Two other loggers were installed near a pair of manmade structures to determine their impact on stream temperature, while also measuring light penetration caused by impounding and tree loss.

The last logger was installed downstream of Channings Pond, a 16-acre 100-year-old impoundment that appears to be getting shallower due to siltation.

This leaves just 3 more loggers to be installed to complete the plan of 12 loggers throughout the watershed. After a full season of data collections, NFC will have a better understanding of what is happening in Trout Brook in regard to water temperature.
