Physical measurements are an important part of stream assessment. There are times when a standard tape measure is not long enough to do the job. This includes larger stream width, small impoundment size, small dam length, sluice/runway length, etc. NFC has found that nothing works better than a retracting, hand-wind, 100-foot tape measure with a belt-clip and soft but durable tape. At no time should a team be in the field without one of these invaluable tools.
