Maine NFC: Changing of the Guard
While admittedly loosely enforced, NFC’s policy is to change chapter leadership every 2 years. This gives everyone a chance to lead, and prior leaders a chance to step back a bit.
NFC started in Maine as Native Fish Coalition of Maine. Our Maine chapter has always been one of our most successful ones, and Maine has been our best fund-raising state since inception. Our first Maine Chair, and in fact state chair, was National Chair Emily Bastian.
ME NFC was previously lead by Tom Johnson as Chair, Brian Rhea as Vice Chair, and Casey Mealy as Secretary. All three stayed in the saddle for more than three years. We greatly appreciate their contribution and hard work, and thank them for stepping up.
Our incoming Maine leadership consists of Larry Bastian as Chair, Savanna Patenaude as Vice Chair, and Isaac Niblack as Secretary. We would like to thank them for stepping up and helping to keep things going in what is the most important wild native brook trout state in the nation, the last place in the contiguous United States with rare Arctic charr, and the last hope for endangered Atlantic salmon in the country.
